Tabard's scheduled products are manufactured under strict Medicines Control Council conditions. The active ingredient used in Tabard products, diethyltoluamide (commonly known as DEET) remains the gold standard amongst internationally proven substances that provide effective repellent protection against mosquitoes and most other insects. Insect repellents containing DEET are endorsed by the United Nations World Health Organisation (WHO) and are issued to military personnel serving in malaria risk areas by numerous armed forces, including the South African, Angolan, Nigerian, British and United States departments of defence. Tabard personal insect repellents provide up to 8 hours of protection by creating a defensive film over the area of skin onto which the product is applied.
